Architecture Law Revisions Introduced By the AIA/WA

It has been 23 years since the architecture licensing law was last amended. The profession has seen significant changes in the standards of practice and in qualifications necessary to competently practice architecture.

HB 3118 and SB 6757 seek to modernize the architecture law with three main goals: 1) update the qualifications standards for initial and continuing licensure; 2) streamline the corporate registration provisions; and, 3) clean-up confusing and conflicting exemptions.

The Senate bill will have a public hearing before the Senate Labor Commerce Research and Development Committee on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Olympia. For more details on the bill, contact Stan Bowman at bowman@aiawa.org or 360-943-6012.
